The speech will first give an overview of the current research and projects towards Industry 4.0 which promises great flexibility in production. The key to the factory of the future lies in networked information and communication technologies. Production-related information is available at any time in real-time and can be used for analysis and optimization. An overview of research and examples of projects towards digitization Industrie 4.0 will be given. Then the Fraunhofer Berlin Center for Digital Transformation will be presented, which acts as an innovation hub for the agile realization of digitization projects. The center supports partners in the implementation of cyber-physical systems and in the realization of application scenarios with the new 5G network technology. It facilitates the transformation process in all phases, from the initial idea and solution concept to the implementation and introduction of digital process chains and business models.
