Not only in Slovakia, we are facing an acute shortage of skilled people who would be able to fill thousands of offered positions in IT. Still, headhunters can't attract enough women. There are nine male colleagues per lady in our sector, and the situation at universities is similar. There are several reasons. Prejudices and stereotypes, but also differences in the mentality of men and women. Why do women think they have to work for four to gain recognition in the male world? Is the excessive demands of women on themselves the reason why so few of us help to improve (not only) Slovak IT? What can we, as a society, do to prevent this opportunity from being missed?

Anna Záhorčáková has been working at DITEC since 2010. For the last seven years she has held the position of Sales Director. Her task is to develop business and marketing activities of the company.
