AI in Dental monitoring of maxillo-orthopedic patients
The combination of artificial intelligence and telemedicine has changed dentistry beyond recognition in just three years. However, AI is mainly responsible for the shift in the paradigm of treatment with dental braces in jaw orthopedics - orthodontics. Today's algorithms can usually detect tooth decay, poor hygiene, chipped teeth or gingivitis from a home video scan. This scan is taken by the patient himself at home with his own mobile phone. AI helps doctors in practice today to segment CBCT data, automate cephalometrics and communicate with patients. The lecture summarizes 5 years of practical clinical experience with the telehealth solution called "Dental Monitoring", which Docent Thurzo, a pioneer of invisible braces, implemented at the Sangre Azul clinic. Today, AI in radiology, but also generative AI (such as ChatGPT or Midjourney) fundamentally change not only the clinical aspects of dentistry, but also its forms and the content of education at medical schools.

Andrej Thurzo
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava, majoring in dentistry (2006), where he works at the Clinic of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery and at the Center for Simulation and Virtual Medical Education. He is the founder of the specialized dental clinic Sangre azul, the technological company 3Dent medical and the Professional Society for Innovations in Medicine. He is the co-founder and first president of the Slovak Society for Regenerative Medicine and is the recipient of the prestigious ITAPA eGovernment leader award from 2006.
