The Results of the IDABC Bridge/Gateway Project

/ Lecture

Security and interoperability are key enabling attributes for the efficient delivery of eGovernment services. They are specifically addressed in the framework of the IDABC Programme, with a number of security measures, either operational like e.g. the provision of certification services, or prospective like e.g. the action on eID interoperability for Pan-European eGovernment Services (PEGS).

This presentation addresses the experience gained on the topic of the mutual recognition of electronic certificates issued by different certification services providers (CSP's) through the Bridge/Gateway CA Pilot Project. It presents on the one hand a brief background and summary of the Bridge/Gateway Certification Authority (CA) Pilot Project, and it highlights on the other hand the conclusions of the Pilot in terms of technical, procedural and organisational recommendations for the implementation of an Operational Bridge/Gateway CA
