She has thirty years of experience in the fields of environmental health, risk assessment, molecular, cellular, and genetic toxicology, molecular epidemiology, biomonitoring, biomarkers, and DNA damage and repair. She is a visiting professor at the University of Oslo. From 1997 to 2017, she also taught at Comenius University in Bratislava. Until 2023, she was the head of the Health Effects Laboratory at NILU. Until 2006, she led the Department of Experimental Genetics at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava (OECD GLP). In 2005-2006, she served as a national expert at the European Commission DG RTD Health in Brussels. Mihaela Roxana Cimpan, PhD, Professor, is the head of the Biomaterials Cluster and of the NanoSafety & NanoMedicine group at the Department of Clinical Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Bergen (UiB). Professor Cimpan’s research activity encompasses nanosafety, nanotoxicity, nanomedicine, and biocompatibility testing of biomaterials used in medicine and dentistry with a special focus on the development of New Approach Methodologies for hazard and risk assessment of nanomaterials and advanced (bio)materials.
