Romana Kanovská
Romana Kanovská has been a director of National Institute for Certified Educational Measurements (NÚCEM) since 1st September 2008, of the institution which is directly controlled by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (MŠVVaŠ SR). She established NUCEM under the Education Act as a research organization dealing with measurements of learning outcomes of pupils at primary and secondary schools on national and international level. She is a general manager of the project co-financed by the ESF under the title Evaluation of the Quality of Education at Primary and Secondary Schools in Slovakia in the Context of the Ongoing Content of Education Reform. Since 2008 she has been managing in collaboration with other organizations of Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic a Pilot Project Maturita Exam On-line, which has introduced the electronic testing for secondary schools in Slovakia.
In the years 2004 - 2008 she was working at the National Institute for Education (ŠPÚ) as a research and development employee. She was dealing with the concept of external measurements of learning outcomes and their implementation at the national level focusing on the preparation and implementation of the external part of the school-leaving examination in the SR. From 2007 to 2008 she held the position of an Assistant of Director for ŠPÚ - Department for Certified Educational Measurements, formerly she was the head of the department for the implementation of school-leaving examination.
In the years 1998 - 2003 she was working as a teacher at Grammar School Vazovova and Grammar School of Holy Family in Bratislava, where she was teaching Biology and Civics.
She completed university study in the years 1990 - 1996 at Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University in Bratislava, in the field of teaching Biology and Philosophy. She defended the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhDr.) at Department of Political Science at FF UK in 2005. She speaks French and English.

Electronic School Leaving Examinations in Slovakia, Project Maturita Exam On-line
The presentation is about the pilot project Maturita Exam Online, whose guarantee is National Institute for Certified Educational Measurements. It is a project introducing electronic testing for secondary schools in the Slovak Republic since 2008. In 2009 Maturita Exam On-line took place at 37 secondary schools. Selected pupils made an external part of the school leaving examination on-line in Mathematics (716 pupils) and English (736 pupils). The presentation contains basic information about existing development Maturita Exam On-line in the years 2008 - 2010, the technological scheme of its implementation, personal, management and communication ensuring project. There are also presented opinions of pupils and teachers drawn from the questionnaires after completion of testing. Similarly, there are summarized the strengths and weaknesses of the project and anticipated direction of the project outlined in the medium term.
