Gerhard Milletich
Gerhard Milletich is the CIO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Austria.
After completing his studies in Economic Informatics, Mr Milletich embarked
on a career, which included the following roles: IT Organiser in the
Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Analyst at Pioneer Overseas and Chief
Organiser in the Austrian M.o.F.A. In 1993, at the age of 35, he became the
youngest department chief to be appointed in the M.o.F.A when he took on the
position of Head of IT. During this appointment, Mr Milletich began to
modernise the Austrian delegations, through a client-server system based on
Windows NT - at a time when NT seemed to represent a risky decision.
Improved communication possibilities with the delegations was the first big
leap in the Austrian M.o.F.A. The giant leap came when he changed the
paper-file-system to an electronic file system based on DMS and workflow.
