Czech National Geoportal is built based on the requirements of the INSPIRE Directive; so it includes a metadata catalogue of available spatial data sets and services in the Czech Republic, data can be displayed as web map services, in future the data will be downloaded based on the licence agreements defined by the data provider. Beyond the INSPIRE Directive requirements the Geoportal offers a set of tools for the data providers that should support the data providing process of their data, metadata, creation of “products” from their data for download for different group of users from public as well as from the public authorities. Moreover for general public georeports will be available. First release of the Geoportal was made in January 2011 (available at geoportal.gov.cz) and since then new functionalities have been released. The project of the Geoportal started in March 2010 and finishes in March 2012.
