Interoperability – a key enabler for successful user and business centric eGovernment services
The implementation of user and business centric eGovernment services involves several public administration entities. The interoperability of these entities is crucial and goes far beyond pure technical aspects.
The presentation will explain how the European Commission Interoperability Solutions for public Administrations programme (ISA) is contributing in this area. It will introduce the European Interoperability Strategy and the European Interoperability Framework drawing the attention to specific interoperability issues that are determinant in the success of eGovernment services implementation.

Margarida Abecasis
Margarida Abecasis is a Portuguese ICT engineer specialised in telecommunications with a Master’s in electro technical Engineering and computers.
She started her career as a university teacher, moving afterwards to a telecommunications operator company to be involved in modernisation projects. From 1988, she worked as a project manager and a consultant in a software company in Brussels dealing with telecommunications solutions.
Administrator official at the European Commission since 1993, she had the opportunity to define and implement the first service level agreements for data transmission services, to manage IT projects supporting the modernisation of the decisional procedures of the Commission and inter-institutional exchanges.…
