Vladimír Palko

Minister of Interior, Slovakia

Date of birth: 20. 5. 1957, Bratislava

Education and career:
He graduated from Mathematics at Comenius University, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in the year 1981.
Until 1990 he worked as a lecturer at Slovak Technical University, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mathematics in Bratislava and later as research worker at Slovak Academy of Science, Institute of Cybernetics. In 1991 – 1992 he was deputy of Head of Federal Information Service.

Political activities:
1996 - 1998 deputy of chairman of KDH (Christian-Democratic Movement)
1998 – Member of Board of Slovak democratic coalition (SDK)
1999 – Member of KDH, vice-president of KHD for press
1998 – 2002 chairman of Committee of National Council of Slovak Republic for defense and security

Vladimír Palko is married and has 3 children.

President of Slovak Republic, Rudolf Schuster, appointed Vladimír Palko as a minister of interior on October 16th 2002.
