Damijan Poš

Damijan Poš is the member of the Post of Slovenia and has over 15 years of experience in the field of electronic services. He is a regular member of the professional teams in the implementation of new information services including identification and e-identities (digital certificates), paperless operations (secure exchange of electronic documents, digitization, secure electronic storage) and cloud computing. He collaborates with numerous Slovenian companies and organizations, such as banks, public administration, public institutions and enterprises from the economy.
 
He finished his university studies in electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Maribor. After the study, he joined Post of Slovenia and continued his career as a systems engineer for networking. He participated at the establishment of Certification Authority of the Post of Slovenia POŠTA(r)CA at the position Chief Operating Officer. After this has been a Research & Development Adviser for the development of information services. Currently, is in the position of Head of IT Services Customer Care and Sales, where is responsible for providing sales and support for customers.

    Why should you attend the lecture? 
    The decision to provide its own cloud, based on HP products, has proved as an important strategic decision. The Post of Slovenia has full control over the service and all the tools necessary (e.g. IT audits, ISO compliance, penetration tests) to prove security and geographic location of IT infrastructure according to EU privacy laws and other legal requirements to its customers.
     

    The PostAR service solves the problem of technical security, transactional integrity and legal security of email with any existing electronic mailbox while retaining procedures and ease of use common for regular email. Legal conformance is being introduced with emphasis on the European Union  egulation, integrating with existing national certified electronic mail systems where available. The main goal of the service was the substitution for regular certified mail in electronic world, decrease the costs of regular certified mail and allow public sector users to reach all of the citizens without any investment and without citizens explicitly registering up-front as the users of the service or changing their email address.
     
    PostAR is a success story of an established company, the Post of Slovenia, working together with a startup to introduce a new business model and a new service on an established business market. While the Post of Slovenia had the necessary resources, cloud infrastructure and leading market position, it needed additional push in innovation. Partnering with the startup based on income commission allowed it to distribute startup risks and gain access to patented solution at the same time. Up to this point of the project, it is still a win-win business model for both businesses. Thanks to its own SaaS solution, the Post of Slovenia is now in a position allowing it to expand cross-border while traditionally it only provided national services.
