František Jakab
He is a graduate of St. Petersburg Institute of Electrical Engineering. He works since 1984 at Computer and Informatics Department in Technical University of Kosice where he built in 1998 acclaimed Computer networks lab.
Since 1999 he coordinates in Slovakia the global education initiative Cisco Net Academic Program and 2009 – 2013 he was Cisco regional program manager responsible for development of the program in 11 states of former Russian Federation. His field of expertise of are computer networks. He led a number of cooperation development projects on national and international level. He is the author of more than 150 technical publications.
For a long time he is actively involved in cooperation of academic world with the industry, development of innovation centers, centers of excellency, research parks and startups.
Since 2007 he is a head of Committee for cooperation of academic world with the industry of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovak Republic and head of the Department of Applications of The Forum for communication technologies. He closely cooperates with Slovak IT Association as a coordinator for eSkills for Jobs project (IT FITNESS TEST).
In 2006 he received a distinguished award “IT personality of the year” and in 2010 annual award of the American Chamber of Commerce for development of collaboration between the academic world and the industry in Slovak Republic. He is a chairman of Sector council for ICT and a member of board of directors for Kosice IT Valley.
Since 2014 he is a director of the University Center for innovation, technology transfer and intellectual property protection at the Technical University in Kosice.
