Introduction & Smart City Poprad - Thinking City
Smart City or intelligently connected city is not just about technologies but also about changing the approach, finding solutions and changing the paradigm in order to improve the quality of life of people, to protect the environment, to increase safety, to avoid the "matrix" concept. This is a multi-level approach and propontional development in all areas so that none of the core areas is left behind. An important goal is to accelerate and streamline processes in the city with the help of IT technologies and innovations
and, on the other hand, to ensure a more comfortable life in the city. -

Smart City Poprad
The concept of “Smart Cities – intelligent cities” is a powerful way how to respond to the challenges of the 21st century, such as robotics, 4th industrial revolution, internet of things, robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, ICT, open data, mobility, environment and more.
The City of Poprad adopted the City Development Program with a view to 2040 in 2016, which was conceived as a development strategy that defines the City as a Smart City in five key specific objectives: Smart Economy, Quality of Life, Tourism, Partnership and Smart Governance. In the area of Smart Economy, we have identified for example the priority “Ecocity and energy security” with the Energy Efficiency of the Territory measure in order to conceptually address energy in the city territory by respecting local conditions and potentials, which is an assumption for stable and sustainable development. We have chosen a similar approach in other specific objectives with regard to the City of Poprad Vision.
