Ivan Mikloš
Ivan Mikloš was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Slovak Republic in 2010 – 2012 and 2002 – 2006. He was Deputy Prime Minister for Economics in the first government of Mikuláš Dzurinda in 1998 – 2002. In 1991 he became a Minister for Privatisation (1991 – 1992). Consequently in 1992 he co-founded and led economic think-tank MESA 10 (until 1998). In years 2006-10 and 2012-2016 he was a member of National Council of the Slovak Republic. In 2014 he was re-elected as president of MESA 10 think-tank and became a member of International Advisory Body for National Reform Council of Ukraine and VoxUkraine platform. Since February 2015 he was the general advisor to Minister of Finance of Ukraine and advisor to Minister of Economy of Ukraine. He held these positions until April 2016 when he became the General Economic Advisor to Prime Minister of Ukraine. He is co-director of Strategic Advisory Group for Support of Ukrainian Reforms and co-founder of Ukrainian Economic think-tank Centre for Economic Strategy.
Ivan Mikloš was one of leading personalities of Slovak economic transformation. During his time in Mikuláš Dzurinda’s government in 1998-2002 and 2002-2006 Slovakia achieved several international successes and became a member of OECD (2000), NATO (2004) and European Union (2004). He led many reform changes especially in taxation. Slovakia was able to enter Eurozone (2009) because of reforms conducted during second government of Mikuláš Dzurinda. In 2004 Ivan Mikloš received an Euromoney journal award „Best Minister of Finance“. He holds many Slovak and international recognitions and is often referred to as one of the best Slovak economists. He is an author of Book of Reforms (2005) and other publications.
