Juraj Sinay
Prof. Juraj Sinay is a professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU Košice and at the Faculty of Safety Technology TO VŠB Ostrava. He is currently an advisor to the Minister of Economy for hydrogen technologies. He managed the team for the development of the National Hydrogen Strategy of the Slovak Republic /NVS/ and is currently co-responsible for the preparation of the Action Plan for the NVS.
As part of his scientific activity, he solved projects within the Agency VEGA., KEDA and APVV. In the last period, he was the responsible solver of projects aimed at solving risks in the framework of Industry 4.0 with a focus on the automotive industry and at the same time also on the hydrogen technology used, primarily within the framework of transport machines and equipment.
During his time at TU in Košice, he was the supervisor of 26 doctoral students in the field of risk management, of which 3 were from abroad. For 18 years, he headed the Department of Safety and Production Quality at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TU in Košice.
He completed a number of short- and long-term study stays abroad. Between 1988 and 2001, he worked in the field of research at the University of Berg in Wuppertal/BRD, where in 2021 he defended his habilitation thesis on the topic of transport machinery risk management.
In the years 2000 to 2007 he was rector and in the years 2007 to 2015 vice-rector of TU in Košice. Between 2015 and 2018, he led the Association of the Automotive Industry of the Slovak Republic.
During his almost 30 years of scientific work, he published as an author and co-author 9 monographs (4 of them in the Slovak Republic and 5 abroad), 2 chapters in encyclopedias from the publisher CRC Press in the USA, 25 articles in WoS, 30 articles in professional magazines abroad and 21 articles in the Slovak Republic. He actively participated in more than 70 international scientific and professional conferences. The focus of his publishing activity is primarily on the topic of prevention and risk management of machines, the quality of university education, as well as on the management of science and technology.
