Laura Banovčanová
A medical student at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Comenius University in Bratislava, dedicated to student activism. Since 2022, she has been serving as the President of the Slovak Medical Students' Association (SloMSA), overseeing its member organizations across all Slovak medical faculties and also a member organization of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA). In addition to several projects focused on developing students' knowledge and skills, she actively participates in advocacy activities alongside inspiring future doctors, advocating for the quality of study conditions and medical education in Slovakia.
Through valuable opportunities provided by IFMSA and development organizations, she has gained experience in scientific activities and clinical practice abroad. She was nominated by the Slovak Medical Students' Association and the Student Council of Higher Education Institutions to serve as a member of working groups for the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
She believes that medical education and Slovak healthcare require comprehensive changes capable of motivating not only the younger generation to study and work in our country, but firmly believes that such solutions must be constructively communicated with all stakeholders, including students, and planned professionally and strategically.
