
Lukáš Plank
Prof. MUDr. Lukáš Plank, CSc. is a distinguished specialist in pathological anatomy, an emeritus head of the Institute of Pathological Anatomy at JLF UK and UN in Martin, and the chief expert in pathological anatomy for the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. He leads two national consultation centers – the Consultation Center for Bioptic Diagnostics of Lymphoid and Myeloid Neoplasms in Slovakia and the Consultation Center for Bioptic Diagnostics of Rare Tumors in Slovakia, both of which play a crucial role in accurate oncological diagnostics.
As the expert guarantor of the project 11I03-21-V19 – Digitalized Pathology Supported by Artificial Intelligence, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of Slovakia, he actively contributes to the implementation of AI in diagnostic processes, enhancing efficiency and the overall quality of pathological diagnostics nationwide. Additionally, he serves as the principal investigator and co-investigator in multiple research projects focused on innovative methods for cancer diagnostics.
His work also emphasizes the advancement of molecular-genetic diagnostics for selected types of cancer, leading a specialized team of experts in Martin. Through his extensive expertise and scientific contributions, he plays a key role in moving Slovak pathology towards personalized medicine and precision oncology.
