Mária Dušinská
She has thirty years of experience in the fields of environmental health, risk assessment, molecular, cellular, and genetic toxicology, molecular epidemiology, biomonitoring, biomarkers, and DNA damage and repair. She is a visiting professor at the University of Oslo. From 1997 to 2017, she also taught at Comenius University in Bratislava. Until 2023, she was the head of the Health Effects Laboratory at NILU. Until 2006, she led the Department of Experimental Genetics at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava (OECD GLP). In 2005-2006, she served as a national expert at the European Commission DG RTD Health in Brussels. In 2008-2009, she was a member of the advisory group for the 7th Framework Programme (environment, climate change). She coordinated projects such as the 5th FP Center of Excellence for Environmental Health HEARNAS, 7th FP NanoTEST, and NanOMEGA. She was a partner in FP5/FP6/FP7 projects FIBRETOX, ESCODD, INTARESE, HENVINET, COMICS, NewGeneris, NanoImpactNet, NanoTOES, QNANO, NanoREG, H2020 NanoReg2, NanoSolveIT, SABYDOMA, and others. From 2019 to 2023, she coordinated the European H2020 RiskGONE project. She served as an evaluator and reviewer for FP5/FP6/FP7/H2020 (health, food, and environment, MCurie, SME). She was a member of the European Commission’s SCCS Risk Assessment Committee for Consumer Products (2013-2023). Since 2020, she has been an expert in genotoxicity for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). She has over 350 publications in peer-reviewed journals/book chapters, an h-index of 70, and over 19,000 citations. In 2024, the President of the Slovak Republic awarded her the Order of Ľudovít Štúr II Class for her outstanding contributions to the development of Slovakia in science and technology, as well as for her exceptional promotion of Slovakia's reputation abroad. She is also the recipient of the Frits Sobels Award, given by the European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EEMGS) for outstanding contributions to the field of environmental mutagenesis.
