Martin Giertl

Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for the Development of Civil Society
Martin Giertl, a lawyer specializing in human rights, NGOs, civil society and open government.

After 2 years of service in foreign policy and 20 years of work as a senior lawyer for the Charter 77 Bratislava Foundation, he was appointed Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for the Development of Civil Society. He was a founder of the Slovak National Center for Human Rights, a long-term member of the Board of the Third Sector. As a plenipotentiary, he helped set up unique demand challenges for non-governmental non-profit organizations from the operational program of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Effective Public Administration, the national implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Vision and Strategy of the Slovak Republic until 2030. He is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for non-governmental non-profit organizations, responsible for 3 existing national projects funded by ESI Funds: Support for partnership and dialogue in participatory public policy-making (NPI, NPII), Better public policies through better knowledge of civil society - Research on socio-economic benefits non-profit sector and the state and trends of development in civil society and making recommendations for public policy makers, Effective involvement of civil society in the programming, implementation and monitoring of ESI Funds by implementing participatory procedures.
