Martin Klus

Martin Klus is a Slovak professional political scientist and graduated political theorist. He has obtained postgraduate diploma in Theory of Politics. Prior entering Slovak politics he had worked as university lecturer and political analyst providing political analyses and commentaries to domestic and foreign media. Between the years 2013 and 2014, he has ranked among the most cited Slovak political scientists and sociologists.

Since 1999 he has been actively engaged in non-profit sector with the aim to empower civic and student participation in public affairs, but also in educational and urban environment improving activities. He often partakes in political and civic initiatives on the topic of electoral and referendum legislation.

Martin Klus has entered communal politics in Banská Bystrica in 2014. From 2016 to 2020 he was a Member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, even Deputy Speaker during last six months of his tenure. As of March 2020 he has become the State Secretary for EU affairs at the Slovak MFEA (both GAC minister and sherpa). Besides that, his agenda includes: Disinformation and Hybrid Threats, Human Rights, Consular Affairs and Crisis Management.
