Michal Olexa is Seconded National Expert within the European Commission's Directorate-General for Defense and Space (DG DEFIS). In this position, it supports the implementation of the European Defense Fund (EDF) and its predecessor, the European Defense Industry Development Program (EDIDP). Since 2000, he has worked at the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, within which he has long focused on matters of the EU Common Defense and Security Policy. He participated in the preparation and implementation of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2016. During two diplomatic missions (2004-2008 and 2017-2021) at the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU, he represented the Slovak Republic in the Political-Military Group (PMG), ATHENA  Special Committee and the Steering Committee of the EU Satellite Center. He participated in the preparation and implementation of the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO).
