The role of Red Hat Research is to connect Red Hat developers and academic researchers, helping them realize research ideas so that their work is relevant to a real-world project. Thanks to this unique way of research collaboration, where industry is directly involved in research, Red Hat can innovate much more efficiently and conduct research in a more productive way. Red Hat cooperates with universities on several levels: from conducting bachelor/diploma theses to involving engineers in teaching to supporting PhD students and their research projects. The most important partner universities include Masaryk University in Brno, with which Red Hat has been cooperating since 2007, the Technical University in Brno, the Czech Technical University in Prague, but also, for example, Karlstad University in Sweden or Boston University in Massachusetts.
