He was born in Slovakia and after graduating from high school in his hometown, he studied general medicine at the Jessenius Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Martin, where he graduated in 1992 with the degree of M.D. - Medicine Universae Doctor Cum Laude. Subsequently, he completed his specialisation training at the University Clinic for General, Visceral, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery, successfully passing the prescribed specialisation examinations (basic examination in 1995, final examination in surgery in 2000) according to the educational regulations in Slovakia at that time. Throughout his professional career, he has attended countless professional trainings, courses and workshops, including fellowship programs at the Mayo Clinic Rochester (USA), Beilinson University Hospital in Petah Tikva (Tel Aviv, Israel) and the University Clinic for Surgery in Heidelberg (Germany). Since 2003, he has worked in Germany, where in 2007 he successfully passed the specialty examination in visceral surgery according to the then educational regulations after recognition of the title of specialist in surgery (so called "grand surgeon"). In 2012, he received a certificate of specialisation in specialised visceral surgery from the Bavarian Medical Chamber. Since 2021, he has been working as a senior physician in the Department of Surgery at Klinik Landstraße (former Rudolfstiftung) in Vienna.
