He has participated in more than 40 national and more than 35 international research projects, more than 30 national and 22 international projects as a project or team leader covering the topics of European spatial planning, smart green urban and rural development, regeneration and environmental planning. He has been a member of national and international scientific councils, a member of the German Academy for Spatial Research and Planning, a member of the advisory boards of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development, the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal State. He has worked as an expert at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Investment Regional Development and Innovation of the Slovak Republic.
He has also been published in books and international planning journals (author or co-author of 41 books, more than 100 published papers, more than 120 papers presented at international scientific events. He is co-chair of SPA-CE.NET - Network of Spatial Research and Planning Institutions in Central and Eastern Europe and the EU-China University Alliance for Smart Sustainable Development and Innovation. He is considered one of the leading academics in CEE countries in the field of spatial planning. He has been awarded as Researcher of the Year in Slovakia by the International Danubius Award 2017 for Research.

Synergies of smart innovations as a key to the effectiveness of measures in response to climate change
The professor will talk about the need to integrate technical, technological, social, behavioral and other innovations in order to eliminate negative impacts and increase the effectiveness of innovative measures for the prevention, adaptation, mitigation and compensation of the impacts of climate change. He will present the newly formed consortium Smart Innovation and Transfer Consoritum Slovakia and how this consortium approaches the integration of smart innovations addressing cities, towns and regions. -
