Tomáš Božik
He has been working in the field of lifelong learning in IT for almost 20 years. Since 2011, he has led a non-profit organization IT in the course, thanks to which hundreds of unemployed university graduates have been able to start a new career in IT. This experience also led him through the field of regional education to the project of establishing an international secondary vocational school in France, which was interrupted with the onset of the pandemic.
For the last year, he has been leading OpenLab, the Institute of Vocational Education in Information Technology, which connects secondary schools with technology companies and thus sets new standards for the preparation and education of secondary school students for employment in the digital industry

IGNITE: OpenLab - a program of secondary vocational education in IT
The uniqueness of OpenLab lies in the systematic approach to increasing the quality of compulsory IT education in secondary schools. Our vision is to turn public education into a talent accelerator, based on demand and teamwork. 222 students in 3 labs (10 classes) work on real projects in the field of creating games and applications, under the baton of an expert from practice. Our approach transforms formal education, brings principles such as partnership, democratic class, teamwork, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and connects local businesses with young talents.
