Peter Blair
Peter's in-depth knowledge of the strategic potential and impact of technology was prefaced in the influential, “OK Computer? Scenarios for the future of information and communications technology development in local government”, written for the Local Government Association in 2000.He has established a high public profile as a speaker presenting his considerable experience of e-government issues. Following the EU Good Practice label awarded to the English Localegov programme in 2005, he is also regularly invited to speak outside of the UK, with recent speaking engagements in Greece, Norway and The Netherlands.Most recently, Peter was invited to join the UK Government's Customer Insight Forum. His experience working in the Local Transformation, Improvement & Efficiency Division at the Department for Communities and Local Government also sees him called to speak about the take-up of e-services, as well as about using technology for business efficiency and service improvement. Peter is also an influential figure in the green computing debate, being responsible for the publication of a world-first quantitative study in 2008 of the impact of e-government in helping to reduce carbon emissions.
